"The Olga Forrai Foundation, Inc., is accepting applications for grants to be awarded in calendar year 2017".
GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR SINGERS WITH EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE, DRAMATIC VOICES
To be considered for a grant, applicants must have completed basic degree related studies, already have relevant professional experience in operatic performance, and present at least three letters of referral from professionals in the Classical Music business, i.e., conductors, stage directors, opera company directors, or leader of a company apprentice, studio or other Young Artist Program.
The Olga Forrai Foundation, Inc., provides equal opportunities to all applicants for grant money without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. In addition to federal law requirements, The Olga Forrai Foundation, Inc., complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination.
Email your request for an audition to the attention of the Artistic Advisor at email@example.com. Enclose or attach a copy of your resume, biography, headshot and a proposal for the grant outlining your specific financial needs to accomplish your professional goals. Also include three letters of recommendation from conductors, stage directors, artistic directors, administrators of young artist programs and other professionals in the industry. These letters must include references to your experience in the dramatic repertoire. Letters from teachers, coaches and managers will not be accepted. All of the above requirements must be submitted before the application can be considered.
Once the Artistic Advisor has received a complete application and grants an audition you will be notified of an audition time and place to sing for the Artistic Advisor. If the Artistic Advisor approves, the eligible applicant will then be screened in live audition by the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
The Board will locate and pay for an audition space. The pianist and any other expenses incurred for an audition in New York are the responsibility of the singer.
In all instances, the decision of the Board of Directors shall be final.
Grant money is specified as being primarily to be used for vocal studies, coaching and language studies necessary to perfecting technique for learning new roles contracted in the pursuit of a successful professional career or confirmed audition tours in the dramatic repertoire. Grants are not generally awarded for purchasing music, web site, headshots, meals, household expenses, grooming aids or travel expenses. An exception will be considered, in part or full, when travel is an integral component of a series (3 or more) auditions in major centers of operatic performance, especially in foreign countries.
When submitting a grant proposal as part of your application, be very clear and specific on breakdown of expenses since the report on Grantee Report on Use of Funds is to be filled out after the grant money is spent as directed at the bottom of the form. You will be required to submit an itemized and proof of expenses. This is to insure that the grantee can confirm that the grant money, received from the Olga Forrai Foundation, Inc., was used in ways commensurate with the proposal submitted at the time of his/her audition as well as fulfill the Foundation’s fiduciary obligation as required by IRS Code, Section 4945.
